It's been a busy but thoroughly enjoyable two days. Yesterday was my son's 12th birthday, which of course meant an earlier than usual start to the day. My daughter was off school because of a teacher training day, so we went to Ikea to get more home accessories and something in which to house my shoes. I did have a purpose built cupboard at my former home, but space is more of a premium in the new house, so needed something more slimline.
My son had an away football match in the evening so it was almost 9pm when we got home to eat the birthday supper of his choice- takeaway pizza.
The weather was once again beautiful and I was feeling very nautical. I do think gold jewellery works better than silver with this particular look.
I love mixing patterns, especially stripes with spots, leopard or florals.
The fact that my outfit (and, it would appear, my car), matches Ikea was unintentional.
The bookcase-come-shoe shelf is over two metres long and even flat-packed presented a challenge, but we managed, just, to fit everything into my car boot, although changing gear was a little difficult on the drive back home. I got exactly what I wanted but my dressing area is a work in progress so will share it in due course.
Today, I got my hair cut first thing and then had the absolute pleasure of meeting Hannah Younger, award winning Yorkshire photographer of Dreams and Lens. We did a photoshoot in her home studio and I ended up staying for several hours chatting. In Hannah, I made a new friend and met a very talented, funny, warm woman. I loved every moment of being her model and I can't wait to see and share the photographs.
The copy deadline for the June issue of Aspire is tomorrow so I have editorial coming in thick and fast, plus features of my own to finish writing and putting together, so this afternoon and early part of the evening was taken up with that.
But not so much that I couldn't get my drill out...don't you just love a level bubble?
The picture ledges are on a narrow wall in the hallway.
I've mentioned the Piano Series of postcards by Hammond and Gower previously on my blog. This one was from my friend Annemarie when we moved in.
I love it and feel that our home has been blessed as such.
Love Liz x
