We all want to look and feel our best and this is something that seems to take (me) ever longer to achieve. We all know the importance of a healthy diet, lots of water, regular exercise, the right amount of sleep (and in my opinion plenty of fun, laughter and the odd indulgence), but can "Super Shot" drinks prove to be a miracle cure for anti-ageing?
I was offered the opportunity to try a week's worth of LQ Skin, Hair & Nails. These shot-sized anti-ageing potions don't promise the secret of eternal youth but they are the first blend of its kind to contain the three most widely accepted anti-agers in one hit- collagen, resveratol and hyaluronic acid, along with a broad-spectrum of advanced anti-oxidants including selenium, Vitamin C and Vitamin E.
Each 50ml bottle contains 7000mg of pure marine collagen, one of the highest concentrations available in a skincare supplement, collagen being vital in maintaining skin elasticity and firmness. Resveratol is the wrinkle reducing anti-oxidant found in red wine, (see, I was right about the odd indulgence), and hyaluronic acid is a moisturiser that keeps the skin plump and smooth.
So, what did I think?
The shots tasted delicious and reminded me of a childhood medicine that my brother and I named- but being of robust constitution rarely needed- "bubblegum medicine." A fairly sweet and very pleasant flavour with not a hint of the sea or fish from the marine collagen.
I didn't see a noticeable difference in my skin but realistically I don't think any oral supplement could have a dramatic effect within a week.
However, I do believe the ingredients would be beneficial if taken for a longer period of time, perhaps over a month and I would have been interested to carry on taking these little miracles, to see if they made difference but also because they really do taste delicious.
