Regular readers of my blog will know that I enjoy writing about small businesses, whether a local bricks and mortar company, or, like my own accessories boutique, a small online venture.
More and more women are looking to redress the work life balance, especially those that are mothers and many that have the option, decide to work from home. This has resulted in hundreds of small business start-ups with women at the helm. I know only too well the behind the scenes work involved in such a venture from photographing stock, to uploading it on the website, promoting it via Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. The packing, the posting. The list goes on. It is no mean feat especially when combined with other work. But all that being said, I love every moment of running my own tiny business and I'm working incredibly hard to make it grow. It excites me and I'm proud of it.
So it is with a great feeling of solidarity that today, I'm writing about the online brand Lylia Rose.
The woman behind online shop, (and blog of the same name) is Victoria, a mother to a three year old and an eight month old.
She blogs about beauty, lifestyle and parenting and her website stocks a beautiful range of fashion accessories, jewellery, purses and makeup bags.
Victoria very kindly sent a makeup bag to me, which you may have seen on one my Instagram post yesterday morning. It accompanied my notebook, business cards and emergency Turkish Delight to London to a blogging event that I attended and about which I will write later in the week.
The makeup bag is made from oilcloth and is in a beautiful love birds design.
It is the perfect size for transporting in one's handbag and the oilcloth means it can be wiped clean. Especially useful when lying next to some rather gorgeous iced biscuits that made their way home with me from said blogging event.
