Sleep Tight!

It seems like weeks since I woke up to a bright morning. The recent storms that battered the UK, meant that some days seemed never to get properly light. Taking blog photographs is difficult anyway in winter because I rely on my daughter before or after school, but it has been nigh on impossible of late as the weekends have been a washout.

But, I am an optimist by nature and the dark mornings have meant I've been sleeping until slightly later.
A very welcome glass half full.

I should perhaps say that my bedroom faces South-East and I have a semi-sheer white blind at my window. It looks beautiful but is not conducive to sleeping much after sunrise.
With all of this in mind, I have been considering investing in some blackout curtains.
My walls are painted plain white and I love the simplicity and freshness of it. It is my haven and I love being in there so, I'd like something simple and unfussy.

John Lewis has an excellent selection of plain designs.

As does Laura Ashley, which also offers a bespoke service.

And local brand, (to me here in Skipton at least), The Yorkshire Linen Co, has an excellent range of affordable blackout curtains in plain designs.

I have little difficulty in falling asleep at night, but I often light a scented candle for a while just because I enjoy a little time to myself at the end of the day. A quantum of solace.

I particularly love lavender based  Neom candles and sleep spray and the "Still" range by Melt, which is also lavender based, utterly divine and also made locally in Waddington which is but a half hour drive away.
