A Grand (dad) Weekend in Gretna Green

I've spent a brilliant weekend with my extended family in Gretna Green. It was to celebrate my paternal grandfather's 90th birthday.

We are relatively far flung and my 99.5 mile journey was one of the shortest. Those of us that were there on Friday evening sat, chatted and relaxed in the bar.

Friday's top was a sale purchase from Boden. The sequins are navy, black and bronze. I teamed it with graphite coated slim jeans.

The rest of the guests arrived on Saturday for the celebratory dinner in the evening.
My father has five brothers all with children. The majority of my generation has children too. There were more than forty family members at the dinner. Hard to believe that this great number resulted from one marriage in the 1940s.

I've worn this dress a few times over Christmas and my glittery shoes have been familiar fixtures.

My ring is a vintage style piece of costume jewellery and I love it. I'll be writing more about this in a day or two.

I decided I need help taking mirror selfies. My thirteen year old is of course an expert.

One of my uncles designed this card for my grandfather. Every word and phrase has particular meaning and significance to him.
Another uncle spoke about my granddad's often remarkable life.

And wasn't his cake lovely?

It was a brilliant, brilliant evening and as always I feel privileged to be part of a large loving family.

It was snowing this morning but not enough to impact on the journey home.
